Training & Skills Working Group

Charter

Enhance the quality and impact of the bridging movement through professional development training for bridging practitioners, as well as a wider audience of potential bridge builders, informed by best practices from successful partners as well as in-depth research.

2023 Accomplishments

  • Development of a Bridging Movement Badging and Micro-credential Program pilot.

  • Identified seven core skills or best practices that will encompass the Bridging Differences Micro-credential.

  • Recruited partners’ curriculum that meets established criteria for a “Listen to Understand” badge.

  • Partnership with Team Democracy to lead the Bridging Differences domain within their Civics Credentialing System, an open badge platform.

Next Steps

  • Launch pilot to test whether the “badges” included in the program help equip Americans with the tools, skills, and confidence to turn down the heat and build social cohesion in their own communities and environments.

  • While the pilot program targets individuals, we plan to expand by also offering businesses the opportunity for employee training that can improve workplace culture and further socialize bridging behavior.

  • Solicit curriculum from partner organizations to satisfy the criteria and focus of other “skills” badges in the pilot.
