Julia Simoes

Julia is a community-engaged researcher and PhD candidate in Communication at the University of Washington in Seattle. Her research examines how capacity building around dialogic communication processes can be mobilized to cultivate greater collaborative praxis and civic health across diverse community contexts. Through her work, Julia aims to meaningfully integrate research and practice to advance approaches to communication that facilitate greater connectedness, expanded understanding, and innovative problem-solving around complex issues.

At Listen First Project, Julia serves as the Measurement and Learning Partner Lead for the Goals and Measures Program. In this role, she supports partner organizations in their efforts to measure, make sense of, and communicate the impact of their work using the Social Cohesion Impact Measurement (SCIM) tool. She especially appreciates the opportunity this role provides to learn about the expanse of bridging work underway across our communities, and to collaborate with partners to integrate evaluation that reflects the many dimensions and transformative potential of their bridging efforts.
